I had the pleasure of joining a three-day whisky tour with Simply Speyside, expertly led by Calum. This tour showcased some of the best distilleries in Scotland, providing a comprehensive and enriching experience that went beyond typical tastings.

The highlights included the “Connoisseur Experience” at Aberfeldy Distillery and the “Toasting Tour” at the Speyside Cooperage, which offered unique insights into the craftsmanship behind whisky production. The “Deconstructed Tasting” at Aberlour was particularly educational, allowing us to understand the complexities of flavour development.

Calum’s expertise was evident throughout the trip, as he seamlessly managed logistics and provided rich historical and technical insights at each stop. The choice of restaurants for lunch ensured we enjoyed local Scottish cuisine, enhancing the overall experience.

Very happy with the services provided. Calum was extremely quick to respond to the first request for a quote and stayed in contact until the day of the tour. Incredible Scotch Tour Customized for Us

Calum made our trip to distilleries so special. My mom and I were on a trip exploring our family history and she doesn’t like scotch. He adjusted the tour to help her find ways she could enjoy it (like eating it alongside walkers shortbread) and also took us off the beaten path to see a pair of highland cows (that made her day). On the scotch front, each distillery was unique and delicious and he was very knowledgeable about the process and what makes certain distilleries special. I’d book with Calum again in a heartbeat.

Best part of our Scotland trip

Calum was the best thing we did in Scotland. It might be the single malt doing some of the talking here but we would not have had as good a time as we did without him. Hiring a driver who not only keeps you safe but can also arrange distillery stops and lunch is such a bonus. And he’s not only knowledgable about the whisky process and producers, he’s a fount of info about rugby. Thanks for taking our anniversary pic and explaining that bizarre game to us – hope you had fun in Paris!

I had the good fortune of having Calum as my personal tour guide during my week in Speyside. There are not enough superlatives to express my appreciation for everything he did to add to my Speyside experience. Nothing was too much trouble and he accommodated everything I asked for including the many changes that I had to make at the last minute, always with a great attitude. He truly cared about my experience and wanted it to be the best it could be. His little touches (including a few surprises), his clean and comfortable car and very safe driving, his knowledge of the area and everybody in the Scotch world, were exemplary, It was like traveling with an extremely well-connected best friend. Without Calum by my side, my experience would not have been anywhere close to what it was — I loved every minute and truly wholeheartedly believe Calum is the reason I had such an enriching and wonderful 7 days and HIGHLY recommend working with him. Wonderful single day distillery tour

We did a one day Whisky Tasting Tour, featuring two distillery tours, a sitting at a tasting lounge, and lunch and dinner at restaurants with a diverse selection of local whiskys. We had a fantastic day with Callum, he is incredibly knowledgeable about both the local area and whisky in general. He took us to several neat local sights which we have never of found otherwise. We were also offered several different itineraries to choose from, and they happily made changes to reflect out specific preferences. I would highly recommend Simply Speyside tours and happily book with them next time I am in the area.

One Day Whisky Tour – May 2023 – Speyside Tours

Amazing Calum!!!!

I travel with my wife to Speyside, of course to try different Whisky distilleries. We looked at multiple online tours, until we found Calum. In reality traveling from the States, I was a little apprehensive on booking a tour online and experience since was not sure what to expect but at the end we decided to book with Simply Speyside tours. We could not be more happy and pleased with our decision. Calum was amazing throughout selection process to prepare schedule, always an email or text away with prompt response. Once we arrived he reached out to us right away to confirm our arrival and meeting us at our B&B at predetermined time every day. Calum was amazing with his knowledge of whisky history, distilleries, and recommendations on whiskies we should taste and try based on our preferences once he got to know them ( well, in reality once we learned them) and general speyside information. He was open to adjust the tour to our preferences including some changes on the fly. We had great conversation with him and enjoyed our time. Our only regret is that we didn’t book a longer tour for more days. We enjoy our time and experience so much that we will be back in 2 years around same time of year with my then 18y/o son for more, and will book a longer tour and spend more time with Calum for sure.

Amazing Experience with Simply Speyside Guide Service

My wife and I traveled thru the Highlands/Speyside for 5 days. Calum of Simply Speyside was our guide. Calum and I set up the basic ideas of what Distilleries and sights to see and Calum set up all of the arrangements and reservations. We had an amazing trip with Calum. Visited our favorite distilleries and got on the Loch Ness to see the sites. Calum was a great guide, historian and he took care of all the details. Calum found some excellent lunch spots in Speyside and Inverness. Try the Mustard Seed and the Copper Dog for lunch. We look forward to traveling with Calum again in the near future.

My Dad and I had a wonderful time in Calum’s company experiencing the delights of the Speyside region. Having a guide with such extensive local knowledge and passion for the craft of whisky distillation really added to our trip, and we would highly recommend his custom tours to anyone seeking a holistic (and comfortable) experience. As other reviews have mentioned Calum knows the region like the back of his hand and was able to show us distilleries, cooperages and natural beauty spots that are not publicised or inaccessible to the wider public. He also imparted on us an extensive understanding of local history which went above and beyond what some of the major brand distilleries were able to offer, which complemented our experience when touring and whisky tasting at these venues. Great custom private tour

We lucked out finding this tour. We went in November and several places weren’t even offering tours. It turned out this would have been our first pick anyways. We came from San Francisco so we did all planning via email which worked effectively for the timezone differences. Calum crafted the day with a combination of our input and his recommendations. During the tour he was pleasant, talkative and gave information about the areas as we drove. My wife and I would recommend checking in on this option if you are interested in a private tour based on what I’ve mentioned above and his prices were better than other options too!
