June started with some wonderful weather and a great tour for some of our guests.
A not so early depart from Grantown on Spey (Strathallen Guest House) saw the start of a great day with guests visiting both Strathisla and The Glenlivet Distilleries.
First stop, Strathisla Distillery, which has to be one of the prettiest distilleries in Speyside (if not Scotland) and the Blending Experience Tour. Over a two and a half hour period you experience what makes Chivas Regal what it is, starting with a guided tour of the distillery and then on to discover how the single malt at the heart of Chivas Regal is made before tasting a few drams and everyone mixing their very own unique 50cl blend.
This was followed by a scenic drive via Dufftown which has more distilleries that we have time to detail here, then through Glenrinnes and some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer.
Arriving at The Glenlivet Distillery in plenty of time for their Definitive Spirit Tour. Again a two and a half hour tour starting with an in-depth tour of the distillery and warehouses, followed by a sampling of new make spirit and a selection from The Glenlivet range of whiskies to comprehend the marriage of the spirit and the wood in creating their whiskies.
Finally, a leisurely drive back to Grantown via the back roads with plenty of sightings of Pheasants, Hares, the odd Red Squirrel and a couple of Partridges (no pear trees).
